I Am A Doctor. But I Have Also Been The Scared Person In The Waiting Room.
Dr. Grounded · About · 4 min read
At Dr. Grounded, we believe the best health advice comes from someone who has lived on both sides.
Let me be honest with you.
I am a doctor. I trained at one of the top universities in Southeast Asia ranked in the top 60 in the world. I see patients every day. I know what I am doing in the clinic.
But I have also sat in waiting rooms feeling completely lost.
I have ageing parents.
I know what it feels like to sit with your mum or dad in front of a specialist and have no idea what they just said. I know the weight of being the one in the family who is “supposed to know” and still feeling helpless. I know what it is like to watch someone you love become a patient.
I have young children.
I know the 2am Google searches. I know the guilt of knowing too much about what can go wrong. I know what it feels like to try to look after small humans while also looking after older ones while somehow also looking after yourself.
I know what burnout feels like from the inside.
Not just as a medical diagnosis I give to others. As something I have quietly lived through while still showing up every day.
This is why Dr. Grounded exists.
Not because I have all the answers. But because I understand the questions from both sides of the room. I write here as a trained doctor — but also as a daughter, a parent, a patient, and a real person.
What you will never find here:
- Health information designed to scare you into buying something
- Recommendations I would not give my own family
- Products I do not genuinely believe in
- Advice that ignores what real life actually looks like
What you will always find here:
- Simple, clear explanations — no jargon
- Honest evidence — including when we do not know enough yet
- A calm voice when everything else feels loud
- Content for real people, in any country, at any stage of life
Health is universal. You are welcome here — wherever you are reading from.
Pull up a chair. This is the longer conversation.
Dr. Grounded is written by a registered medical practitioner. Nothing here is medical advice. Always speak to your own doctor.
